Meet Lewis

Lewis Downing is a dedicated business owner and community leader with deep roots in Anniston, Alabama. As a third-generation owner of Downing & Sons and a lifelong resident of Anniston, he is invested in the success of his hometown. 

Lewis is a passionate advocate for community development. He served as Vice Chairman of the Anniston Downtown Development Authority, where he played a key role in economic revitalization efforts. He also served as Chairman of Main Street Anniston and as a Board Member of the Spirit of Anniston.  Lewis has been instrumental in strengthening local businesses, preserving Anniston’s cultural heritage, and fostering civic engagement. 

With over 15 years of experience in business management and community leadership, Lewis brings a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. His ability to build relationships and drive meaningful initiatives has made him a respected voice in Anniston’s growth and development.

Lewis is married to Katie, and together they have three children: Lillie (14), Hannah (10), and Luke (6). Deeply committed to the future of Anniston, Lewis seeks to continue his service as a member of the City Council representing Ward 1, bringing his leadership, vision, and dedication to the role.
